Starting a new adventure…

It is the last day of September of 2011.  This past month has been interestingly enough one of the happiest months I have had in a long time. Happy is not the correct word to use here, I would strike that and call it Joy.  Joy is something that comes from God, and happiness is a feeling that depends on a circumstance.  Happiness can come and go with the change of the seasons, but Joy embraces every fiber of your being even if you have diagnosed with Lupus or been in Chronic Pain for years or whatever else life can throw at you.

This past month I have been pursuing my passion.  For the last couple of years I was getting into making greeting cards and found it was something I really could take or leave, there was no passion behind it at all.  I rediscovered my love of painting, in any form with anything. I read an article in Somerset Studios that led me to find Suzi Blu.  From her first wacky video I was hooked and have not stopped.  One of her first assignments in her newest workshop was to draw a “false friend”.  Keeping in mind this is not supposed to be a pretty portrait, here is my false friend.  She has some flaws, she talks out of both sides of her neck and her pig nose represents a scripture that talks about swine.  I had fun with this, it was almost freeing in a way.

With the false friend behind me, I started sketching and painting.  Keeping a journal of Processes and I will make one more journal for  fine art as it comes along. I have tapped into something that was screaming to come out.  Yep, I have to use lines and graphs to make things come out even, I have erased and started over and erased again and I don’t care.  I am just having a ball. This gal will end up with hair and clothes at some point.

Stay tuned as the journey progresses and in the meantime, find your passion or bliss and pursue the heck out of it.

Use the things you love

Everyone has received  the emails that go around about waiting for a special occasion or holiday to use the good dishes or only wearing the “expensive with perfume” when going out to nice places.  Each of these stories end up waiting too long and then it is too late.
Hold on there, this is not a gloom and doom  story.
I have been working on fixing up my art studio, making it one of my favorite places to be.  After my mom passed away I received a few vintage pieces that I remember seeing and being around when I was a little girl.  Instead of wrapping them up nicely and saving them for who knows what, I came up with ideas how to incorporate all the special  things that I loved looking at and using them.
The stein in the photo I made for my Dad in 1975.  The stein is perfect for some of my paint brushes and the rest of the brushes  go into the soup can pencil holder that my son made when he was little and a coffee cup that I was given for being The Best Team Mom in Little League.  I don’t remember where the pitcher came from but I love it and it is the new home for my Prismacolors.
Being surrounded by  wonderful things could not be a better environment for creating and relaxing.
Of course there are certain things that are unavoidable having around when you are trying to create.
The “Boss” himself
I also use the good china as my everyday dishes.  That is when I am not using paper plates LOL!
Create a space that is happy and healing.

Life since the last blog…

For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11
There is so much truth to this scripture  whether you believe what it says or not, in a very short amount of time your life can change.  I have to laugh a little bit, no matter how much I get in my own way…we know that in all thing God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.  In my experience in past and present, MY bet is on God’s plan.
Our family endured sorrow a year ago this past March, with my mother passing away.  It has taken some time to heal.
After the sorrow I have had extreme joy that continues to bless me each and everyday.  My wonderful son was reunited with the amazing young woman “who is the love of his life”.  Gods plan for hope and a future.

My journey continues,  My pencils are sharpened, my brushes are ready.  In this blog I want to share with you what I am learning, and new processes. I am exploring the world of Mixed Media and I love it.  I still love crafting and making cards, but I am ready to be using “my big girl paints”.

this is my new blog.
